There are so many things you can do in the world to make a difference.
Especially right now, with the tragic disaster in Haiti. Please consider donating to this cause. There are many organizations where you can donate, such as World Vision, Red Cross, and the Salvation Army.
You could help at food shelters, even donating your old clothes to the these shelters rather than dropping them off in the convenient bins by grocery stores. Organize or prepare meals for those in need in your community or raise money for charities.
Locally...
Elmira-Woolwich Community Services also has various opportunities and Food Bank drop off.

There are endless possibilities, but it's just great to get involved. We live in such an "it's all about me" world, but infact the more you give "of" yourself, the better you feel! Proverbs 3 vs. 27 "Whenever you are able, do good to people who need help."
In November of 2007, my husband and I went on our first mission trip with a group from our church and another! We went to Mexico with a group of people from our church and a church in Burlington, to build 3 homes. It was the most amazing experience...here are a few pictures! You can also check out the organization we went through. ...the website is www.yugo.org
Our 2 oldest daughters have both been on mission trips as well and we went again in November 2008...to help build 4 homes!
Our latest church mission was in March 2010 with our Youth Group - check it out!
